Bill can remember being interested in funeral service at a very young age. But it wasn't until the age of 15, when his grandfather died suddenly, that he knew funeral service was his calling. With the family in shock and in immense grief he was impressed by the way the funeral director took control, helped the family in planning the funeral and getting them through the process in a dignified and professional manner. Something that made such a huge impression on him and would lead him to a life of serving others through their own moments of grief.
Owner since June of 2003, Bill is proud that the funeral home continues to be independently owned and operated. Putting your trust in a family that has deep roots in the community is very important when called upon to handle the funeral of a loved one. His interest is in the satisfaction and well-being of each and every family he is called upon to serve. You and the care of your loved one is his number one priority.
Bill is a 1979 graduate of Kings Park High School and his career in funeral service spans 40 years. After attending SUNY Farmingdale and graduating with a degree in Mortuary Science, he received his license to practice as a Funeral Director in the State of New York. He has held various positions with funeral establishments in both New York City and on Long Island. Bill is Past President of the Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors Association, the firm is also a member of the New York State FDA where Bill served as Region 9 (Long Island) Director. He also is a Past Grand Knight and Past District Warden of the Knights of Columbus, a member and past Financial Secretary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, past board member of the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce and Kings Park Education Foundation and past president of the Huntington Kiwanis Club. He was also the recipient of the Dr. Robert Cody Superintendant Award from the Kings Park School District and in 2011 was presented with the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce. A supporter of many organizations and fund raising events, Bill is the chairman of the annual St. Joseph's Church Golf Classic. Bill is also an avid golfer, boater, and musician playing saxophone with the Smithtown Community Band and the Stony Brook University Wind Ensemble.
In memory of his brother Tom, a firefighter who was killed in the line of duty on September 11, 2001 as a member of the New York City Fire Department, his family established the Thomas M. Butler Memorial Scholarship Award in which two students are presented with scholarship awards each June at Kings Park High School.
